What is Avotone?

Avotone is a non-prescription cream that is designed to relax wrinkles and diminish the signs of aging.  It claims to reduce the depth of wrinkles by relaxing facial muscles with a special peptide formula that includes argireline.  As a result, skin should look younger, firmer and fuller.  This product also contains avocado oil, which helps to deliver moisture as well as vitamins and antioxidants to keep skin pH balanced and healthy.

How does Avotone work?

The main active ingredient in Avotone is argireline, which is also known as acetyl hexapeptide-3.  One cause of wrinkles is when the muscles beneath the face begin to get creased after years of repetitive movements.  The facial skin becomes creased because it covers the muscle, and that is how a wrinkle forms.  This peptide works to relax facial muscles and smooth out the skin.  Argireline actually causes the contractions of the facial muscles to be less intense because it slows down the creation of neurotransmitters.  In turn, when the muscles are relaxed and smoother, the skin covering them is also smoother.  There have been many clinical studies done on the benefits of argireline for treating wrinkles, and the positive results have been well documented.  Avotone contains a 10% concentration of argireline, which I have read is the optimal amount.  This level of concentration is potent enough to bring the desired results, but not so strong that it will damage skin or inflict irritation.

Avotone also contains avocado oil, which is a potent moisturizer.  It penetrates the skin and delivers much needed moisture as well as Vitamin A, which protects skin from further damage by acting as a tough antioxidant.  Avocado oil contains Vitamin D, which is vital for healthy skin, but often the only way to receive Vitamin D is to leave skin exposed and unprotected in the sunlight.  By applying avocado oil, skin is able to gain much needed Vitamin D without sustaining further damage from the sun.  Chlorophyll is also found in avocado oil and helps to fight the aging of skin including sun spots and can even help reduce pimples.  Another antioxidant in avocado oil is lecithin, which helps to prevent dehydration in the skin.  It helps to balance skin's pH level and works to nourish skin without stripping the protective acid mantle.  Lastly, avocado oil contains potassium that also contributes to that healthy pH balance.

Other ingredients in Avotone include propylene glycol, acrylamide colopymer, fragrance, ehtyparaben, methyparaben, and propylparaben.  A few of these, especially the fragrance, give me slight concerns that some users may be allergic to the product or have an unpleasant reaction to using it.  However, the makers of Avotone claim that it is safe and that a very small percentage of users experienced an allergic reaction when they tried it.

How do I use Avotone?

The application of Avotone is very similar to most creams that you would use on your face.   Wash and dry your face before you use Avotone.  Then apply it to your skin in a gentle upward and outward, massaging motion.  You only need about a pea-sized amount of the product to apply to your problem areas such as the frown lines between your eyes.  The argireline compound in Avotone should help to relax those contracted forehead muscles and diminish the furrowed brow look.  It also works for crow's feet near the eyes and vertical lines around the lips and smile lines at the edge of the mouth.  One other area many people notice wrinkles is the neck and Avotone can help with that area as well.

For the first 30 days that you try Avotone, you should use it once in the morning and once in the evening.  After using it for 30 days, it is recommended that you cut back your usage to just once per day, generally at night.  Even though Avotone contains avocado oil, which is said to be a great moisturizer, some people may get dry skin from the active ingredients in the product.  Avotone's website recommends using another moisturizer after you apply Avotone if you experience this problem.

My Likes

Avotone contains argireline, which is common in many anti-wrinkle treatments.  There have actually been clinical studies done that show argireline to be effective when used to treat wrinkles.  This makes me think that Avotone might actually be worth a try, since there is some legitimate science to back it up.

Avotone includes a 60 day money back guarantee if you are not happy with the product.  So many anti-wrinkle creams that I have reviewed have a 30 day money back guarantee.  While any sort of guarantee might give you a warm, fuzzy feeling, you really need 60 days in order to give the product a chance to work and decide for yourself if it is going to deliver the results that you are looking for.  Even the best products don't work for every skin type, so it is great to see that Avotone offers a generous money back guarantee.

My Dislikes

I find the warning on Avotone's website about some users experiencing problems with dry skin to be slightly alarming.  The site goes on and on about the benefits and moisturizing properties of avocado oil, but somehow it doesn't seem to work to balance out the active ingredients in the product.  I do realize that some people have extra sensitive skin that may be susceptible to dryness and irritation, but it makes me wonder if this product is harsh or if the avocado oil does not moisturize as well as they claim.

My Conclusion

I like many things about Avotone including the 60 day money back guarantee and the fact that it contains argireline.  I am concerned that people with sensitive skin will have problems with this product over-drying their skin.  To go from wrinkles to dry skin is not much of an improvement.  For those who may be concerned about the dry skin side effect of Avotone, I would recommend my favorite product, Athena 7 Minute Lift.  This treatment is a topical cream that is similar to Avotone, but rather than using sometimes harsh chemicals like argireline, it is made from essential oils and botanicals.  Athena 7 Minute Lift gives your skin a quick lift so that you can look great for a big day or night out on the town and should not cause any drying side effects, even with the most sensitive skin.  Avotone sounds like a solid product, but Athena 7 Minute Lift is still my favorite, along with LifeCell Skin.
