What is AlphaDerma CE?

Other active ingredients in AlphaDerma CE include Alpha Lipoic Acid, Vitamin C Ester and DMAE.  Alpha Lipoic Acid is an intense antioxidant that helps to fix the damage that the skin has endured while also shielding it from future harm.  Vitamin C Ester, which is also known as ascorbyl palmitate, increases the protective properties of the antioxidants and stimulates collagen production in the skin to help repair damage.  Depletion of collagen is another important contributor to the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, so if a product can boost the production of collagen in the skin, it can help diminish wrinkles and protect against future episodes.  DMAE is another treatment ingredient that helps to firm and tighten the skin to work against sagging and wrinkles.

One more component of AlphaDerma CE that is meant to address the problem of decreasing collagen that contribute to wrinkles is the hydrolyzed collagen in the product.  As mentioned above, the depletion of collagen in the skin is a big contributor to fine lines and wrinkles.  Many creams tend to contain collagen, but there is little evidence that applying collagen to the skin will boost collagen production in the cells.  AlphaDerma CE claims that the hydrolyzed collagen in their product is a different sort of technology that can be more easily absorbed into the deep layers of skin.  Hydrolyzed collagen is basically smashed collagen, and since the pieces of the molecules are so tiny, they can penetrate deep into the skin where they are needed the most.

AlphaDerma CE also promises to be effective in treating stretch marks and scars.  They claim that the natural elastin in our skin is what allows it to stretch without leaving stretch marks.  This product contains a freeze-dried elastin that is powdered and concentrated to the point of being almost 100% amino acid.  The producers of AlphaDerma CE claim that this unique form of elastin makes it more effective than any other products that contain elastin and are meant to treat stretch marks.             

My Likes

Unlike some skin care products that make bold claims and vague promises; AlphaDerma CE actually cites some clinical studies to back up their product.  Yes, I realize that even the results of science can be skewed by crafty marketers, but it brings me one step closer to thinking a product is legitimate if the manufacturers have put in the effort to have it tested and can show results.

In this case, the website for AlphaDerma CE talks about the 10% concentration of Argireline in their product, and how clinical studies have shown this to be the optimum level of this component.  Creams with more argireline can create a risk for skin irritation or even damage and the products with less than 10% concentration are not as effective.  In clinical tests, wrinkles were reduced by 27% in 30 days after being treated with argireline.  The site shows before and after examples of the skin of volunteers who used the product for 30 days.  It is easy to see that the wrinkles were definitely reduced from the argireline treatment.

My Dislikes

This product seems to make some legitimate claims that are backed up by science and clinical research.  However, even the most studied and tested wrinkle creams do not work for all people because everyone's skin chemistry is different.  AlphaDerma CE is a fairly expensive product for $129.95.  It runs on the high end of most of the wrinkle creams that are available.  The website does offer a 100% money back guarantee after 60 days, but they do not give consumers the opportunity to order a trial size for free. 

My Conclusion
