15 Skin Care Myths - Myth #2: Harsh Astringents Will Help My Oily Skin
Do you notice a shiny appearance across your cheeks, forehead and the bridge of your nose when you look in the mirror? Are you constantly checking your complexion in your pocket compact and applying powder to diminish the sheen of oil across your face? This can be a frustrating issue for many people, and oily skin is generally not considered an attractive feature of men or women. So, what are you to do to combat this problem? If your skin is oily, the best antidote is to dry it out. Right? The answer may be counter intuitive, but it will probably make your skin even more oily if you try to make it dry.
In order to have healthy, beautiful skin you need to keep your skin balanced. If you are having problems with over production of oil, drying out your skin will not help. If you use harsh astringents in an attempt to dry the oil from your skin, you will probably irritate your skin and create scaly, dry patches while the majority of your complexion remains oily. The flakes from over-drying your skin can actually become trapped underneath your skin, become inflamed, and create new pimples and black heads. Dry, flaky skin with a smattering of pimples does not look good on anyone either. You are better off to deal with the oily sheen.
Another counter-intuitive skin care regimen that is usually necessary for people with oily skin is moisturizer. Why on earth would you want to apply a moisturizer to your face when it already seems overly hydrated? It turns out that the oil on your skin actually doesn't have much to do with hydration. Moisturizing your skin helps to keep it looking youthful and firm. Even if it seems like your skin is too oily to moisturize, you should apply a small amount every day to prevent premature lines and wrinkles.
What can you do to take care of that oily skin? Everyone is different, so it is hard to give advice that will work across the board. However, as we mentioned earlier, your goal should be to keep your skin balanced. Using harsh cleansers and creams to fight the oil will most likely make your skin even oilier or even break out. Instead, try to use a gentle cleanser that is non-comedogenic, which means it won't clog your pores. Then follow up with a small amount of moisturizer after you wash your face. Another common mistake people make is to wash their faces too often. When your face feels oily, it is sometimes an unpleasant sensation and you may feel tempted to wash it away. It is recommended to wash your face twice a day, but resist temptation to run to the sink more often. If you work out between your two face washings, simply rinse your face with water. You don't need to add an extra face washing into your routine just because you worked out.
It is likely that your oily skin is not caused by an external activity, but rather hormones or stress. Making healthy changes to your lifestyle such as eating plenty of fruits and vegetables, cutting down on caffeine, and exercising to deal with the stress in your life may help your skin. If hormones are the cause, you may very well outgrow the problem as you age. It may not seem like an attractive prospect to wait a few years for your skin to dry up on its own. You might feel afraid that you'll have to start applying anti-wrinkle cream while your face is still oily. Don't stress about it: that will only make your oily skin worse.

How to Stay Away From Anti-Wrinkle Creams
Living a healthy life can lead to reducing time on the aging effects on the human body, such as crow’s feet, weight problems, and illness. Living in an environment that is enriched with healthy foods prepared with love and making sure that regular check-ups are done by the doctor, dentist, and eye doctor will also help. By going for a regular check up you can keep an eye on all the hereditary problems that may occur. By getting a head start with the body, the sooner the inherited problems can be controlled and maybe even stopped for good. By not over eating, doing drugs, or drinking alcohol you can keep the chances of having health problems down and slow down the aging process. This is the main reason that people use anti-wrinkle cream.
By living a healthy life and making the correct decisions, there should not be any reason that the aging process will not slow down as long as it is kept up. The body also goes through changes over the years and a person’s metabolism decreases with age.
Diabetes can be brought on by eating high amounts of carbohydrates instead of eating natural foods. Eating too much sugar can also lead to tooth decay and gum disease. By not going to the dentist and not taking care of one’s teeth it can increase heart disease. The nerves in a person’s teeth and gums if damaged can lead to problems with their heart, such as heart attacks, strokes, and heart disease. When a person gets sick, they need to make sure that they get the correct treatment. By taking vitamins, eating correctly, and exercising regularly you can slow down the aging process. It also increases the lifespan of a person.
Aging is part of life, so when a person starts to get a wrinkle it is there for a reason. You don’t need to run out and get some anti-wrinkle cream right away to keep them hidden. Wrinkles show when stress is intense, poor choice in lifestyle, or a health problem that has not been taken care of. There is no way to stop aging completely. It is a natural thing that happens to every person. The only thing that is different from person to person is the lifestyle that they pick, the environment that the person lives in and the way they treat their body on a daily basis. Just remember there is no reason to wait on changing habits.
